Think Positively

This week had its fair share of highs and lows. However, I am going to focus on the highs. First of all, my Friday night outreach was at a fashion show that was focused on raising support and awareness for human trafficking. The money raised goes to Destiny House and other local organizations that are taking steps to eradicate human trafficking. My team served as volunteers to hand out deserts, raffle prizes, and take offering. It was so much fun, and of course at the end a couple of the girls and I took a fierce walk down the runway. Side note - if you ever have the opportunity to walk down a runway, TAKE IT (guys, that includes you too)! Second of all, my base director, Simon, decide to bless all of us with a fun day on Thursday! I think he started to smell the scent of our brains frying from all the information we were being given. The fun day consisted of two of my favorite things: swimming & a large consumption of food. We went to a casino's pool and this was no ordinary pool, it had a shark tank (enclosed ofcourse, incase you needed clarification) and a slide that went through it!! It was utterly fantastic, but then it got even better! Afterward we went to a different casino and ate at this heavenly buffet. Another side note - I have been running about every other morning and am on day 10 of the 30 day ab/squat challenge, so two plates of food and two plates of desert was well deserved, right? I hope so because that definitely happened. Another high, (this week was actually really great now that I think about it) on Tuesday night we had outreach and it was such a blast. We wrote letters and then went out onto the strip and handed them out to people. Let me tell you, It is super easy ministering to homeless people because they are like stuck and have no where to go. The real challenge is talking to passerbyers. After being blown off countless times by passerbyers, it makes you want to only talk to homeless people, but that is not what God has called us to do. Yes, we are supposed to help the homeless and needy, but ministry is not supposed to be easy. Speaking of easy, staying awake has been so far from easy this week. Lectures this week were all extra long; we had four speakers within 3 days, which is unusual considering we typically have one speaker for the whole week. Each person had great information though, but the longer lectures were draining. So yeah, I think that covers my week. Despite all the long lectures, lack of sleep, and early mornings, this week has been amazing. I love DTS and all the great people I am growing deeper with God with. I shall end this blog post with some random fun things I do not want to go into detail about because they are not that interesting but I want to share them anyway:

- My room apparently always smells weird

- On Saturday we had girls day (which included many chick flicks and a cheese cake cook off)

- I have picked up a new habit, making bracelets

- On Friday we went to China Town and I had Boba Tea - it was weird - and went to a really cool journal store and picked up a new art notebook

- On Saturday I stayed in my pajamas all day

- My relationship is now Facebook official, so thats actually awesome

- I think I found a temporary home church, Grace City!
