So I realize I did not blog about week 6; I was really busy and great stuff happened but I'm going to skip over all of it because this post will be long enough as it is, because this week was spent in MEXICO!!

We left on Tuesday after lunch and it was a 7 hour drive, that doesn't include bathroom breaks and stopping for dinner, so we got there around 9 I think, and pretty much went straight to bed.

Wednesday - We went to a migrant camp located in the outskirts of Ensenada. This is where field workers and their families live. We did not see many of the men because they were out working but we got to paint the ladies nails and play soccer and other games with the children. It was so much fun! We stayed there for about 2 1/2 hours, then went back to the ministry center that we were staying at to eat lunch, then went to a womens rehab center. This was really cool and extremely different from what we had just been doing, because there was no playing, just talking and sharing stories, which was great to hear! It took a while because everything had to be transalated from English to Spanish or vice versa, but it was well worth it. Tears were shed. God's presence was felt. I was one of the three people from my team that shared their stories, so that was fun. We shared our dreams and prayed for each other. After that we went back to the ministry center, had dinner, then went to YWAM Ensenada's base for a Community Night. That place was a mansion compared to my base! I saw my friend, Grace! She goes to that DTS and it was so nice seeing a familiar face. After that long day, we went home and slept like babies.

Thursday - Breakfast, then an oprhanage for 3 hours. The orphange was so amazing. I have never been to one before and this one was pretty nice, on the outside atleast. I did not get to see inside any of the rooms but the girls said they did not mind being there. There were about 15 girls there and one boy, and some girls were at school. If you weren't at school, you stayed home and watched tv all day. Most of the orphans there were 13-16 years old. There was one baby and one much older woman but she had mental health problems so she can't live on her own. Going to the orphanage was such a great experience. After that we went back to base, painted around there, ate dinner, went to church, then went to a red light district and handed out food. It was pretty quiet because in that district everything happens in the bars, the girls do not stand outside much. But we were still able to pray with some people!

Friday - We set off for Tijuana, which was about an hour and a half drive. We got to enjoy the coast of Mexico for a bit by doing some shopping and going to the beach. Nothing beats swimming in the ocean. Then we went to the YWAM Tijuana base, which is literally like a resort. It overlooks the ocean, has a soccerfield, a prayer house, and a fountain. We ate dinner, watched the sunset over the ocean, then got ready to prayer walk around the largest red light district in North America. It was crazy insane. You couldn't even walk two feet without there being a practically naked girl standing against a wall. There were hundreds of these girls, many of them underaged. It was horrific. What was worse though, were the amount of children on these streets as well, just causually walking by all these women. They are growing up in a culture where selling your body for sex is normal. Please be praying for the people of Tijuana. On the brighter side, one woman gave her life to Christ!! Praise Jesus!

Saturday - Packed and out the door by 9. Got to Vegas around 6:30. I have never been so happy to be in the ghetto. I missed my home.

Las Vegas really has become home and I love it. The time spent in Mexico was amazing and really eye opening. I hope to go back there someday!

Prayer Request: Unity within our group and for my finances to be blessed.

xoxo

- Sam
