Sex & Money

Don't worry, I'll try to keep this post PG. No scratch that, I'd like to keep it rated G, because nowadays some PG movies have sex scenes, swearing, and violence. That's crazy. The distorted views of women, sex, and love that pop culture is spewing out was made crystal clear to me this week by the lovely Morgan Perry, a producer at Exodus Cry, former YWAMer, and producer of the documentary Sex & Money. As we talked about intimacy and advocacy, she shed light on everything regarding pornography's direct ties to human trafficking AND did it with amazing style. Her fashion sense was on point (if anyone wants to send me a gift card to Madewell or Zara, or bless me with a Cannon t3i, I wouldn't mind). Morgan has definitely become a new role model of mine.

The two things that really stuck out to me this week were; women are being taught to conform and men are taught to consume, and when we live a 1st Commandment life (Matthew 22:37-38) our passion and zeal will never run dry (Ephesians 3:16-18). This week was very empowering, yet heartbreaking at the same time. All I know is that if we want to see a shift in culture we need to do our part, which is follow Jesus, and He will do everything else.

Lectures were great and Tuesday night's local outreach was great. We stayed in our neighborhood and did a "scavenger hunt", which is asking God for something we can look for. God gave me the impression of a few things; a lady in yellow, someone needing healing for their kidney, and someone needing healing for their relationships. As my group was walking around we saw a few adults sitting on a bench, so we decided to see if they needed any prayer. They were all a bit intoxicated, which made for a very outspoken but great conversation about the Lord. None of them in yellow, none said a thing about families, but while we were talking one lady, who had said nothing up until this point, blurts out, "Will you pray for my liver and kidneys?" I about lost it. Ladies and gentleman, God does speak and he knows what every person needs. With that being said, I jumped right over to her and started praying. As I prayed, she cried. And cried. And cried. It was nothing I did or said, it was all Jesus. He did something in that lady's heart that night. We hugged for a solid few minutes after that. Then we said goodbye. Her name is Bridget, please pray for her.

Friday I was hit with waves of hot and cold flashes and a stomach ache, so I did not go on outreach. It was just a really rough day all around. If something could go wrong, it did. But God is still good and so is my dad. I received a package from him that day filled with chocolate covered almonds (God's ultimate blessing to the world). Packages make days better. Friday was also the day I was supposed to have all my outreach fees in. I still owe $1,646.86. They haven't told me to pack my bags yet, so that's good. Please pray for that. If you'd like to donate please send me a check or contact me for more information.

Sorry for such a long post. This week was very monumental. If you want to know more about human trafficking check out exoduscry.org, sharedhope.org, or hopeforjustice.org.

I will end with an encouragement. The enemy's ace is sexual immorality, but God's plan of attack is you!

Love you guys :)
